In a matter of taps, a new payee can now be set up on the Metro Bank Mobile app

20th December 2017

Metro Bank, the revolution in British banking, is now offering customers the option to set up a new payee on its mobile banking app. The new functionality is designed to increase customer choice when it comes to managing payments, whether online, over the phone, in store or through the updated app.

App users can set up a new payee in just five simple steps:

  1. Input new payee details
  2. Enter digits from card number
  3. Onetime SMS passcode sent to registered phone
  4. Confirm passcode on app
  5. New payee set-up is complete

Craig Donaldson, CEO at Metro Bank commented: “We know how important banking-on-the-go is, and we’re finding that more people than ever are choosing to use their banking app as one of the main ways to make payments.  The ability to set-up a new payee in a couple of taps, is a feature we think will make our customers’ lives even easier and means they’ll be able to make a payment almost immediately. Particularly handy at this time of year when a lot of us are going out and splitting the bill with friends and colleagues, or paying for last minute odd jobs before the family arrives.”

Metro Bank’s award-winning1 mobile banking app makes it easier than ever to check balances around the clock, keep an eye on both recent and pending transactions, and using the in-app monthly summary tool, monitor and manage spending.  What’s more, instant access savings accounts can be opened and new standing orders can be created directly on the app. Customers can also make use of the block and unblock functionality, which enables accounts to be temporarily frozen with a swipe of the finger, meaning misplaced cards aren’t mistakenly cancelled only to be found again. For those customers in a rush, smartphone users can now simply shake to log-out.

The mobile banking app is available to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
