Contacting us using British Sign Language (BSL)

We are committed to making banking as inclusive and accessible as possible. InterpretersLive! is a safe and secure interpreting service that allows our BSL using customers to contact us through NRCPD British Sign Language Interpreters.

Interpreters are available on-demand 7 days a week between 8 am to 12am, and can also be pre-booked.

How to get in touch

There are two ways to get in touch with us using InterpretersLive! – via a link on your computer, or through the InterpretersLive! app on your mobile device. Choosing either option, and before your call is connected to us, you will be given the option to select which of our teams you would like to talk to.

You can contact the following Metro Bank teams:

  • Contact centre – for personal and business queries
  • Arrears team – for Personal Accounts, Bounce Back, Business and Commercial loans
  • New mortgage enquiries
  • Bereavement services

You will need a computer or tablet with internet connection, or mobile device with 3G/4G/5G mobile data signal to use InterpretersLive! You will also need to allow access to your camera and mic.

  • Click on the Connect to a BSL Interpreter logo on our Get in Touch page
  • Look for the ‘Directory’ button on the InterpretersLive! homepage, and select or search for ‘Metro Bank’ from the list of organisations
  • Select which of our teams you would like to talk to

  • Go to your app store and search for the InterpretersLive! app
  • Download InterpretersLive! to your device

  • Once connected, flip your mobile view to landscape mode

You can visit us and access the InterpretersLive! service in store by either:

  • Using the service through the InterpretersLive! app on your mobile device with one of our colleagues present, or
  • our colleagues can also access a BSL interpreter in store for you on their desktop devices

What types of interpreting are available?

NRCPD British Sign Language Interpreters are available on-demand, and they can be pre-booked too.

You can pre-book:

  • Lipspeakers
  • Speech to Text reporters
  • Relay Interpreters
  • Makaton
Is it free to use InterpretersLive!?

InterpretersLive! is free for you to make a Video Relay Service (VRS) call to Metro Bank.  InterpretersLive! is also free to use when you visit the select organisations, trusts, councils and stores featured on the InterpretersLive! website.

Can you pre-book InterpretersLive!?

Yes, you can pre-book NRCPD qualified British Sign Language Interpreters and other types of communication support 24 hours a day,7 days a week and 365 days a year. Visit the InterpretersLive! app to access the pre-book in advance or on demand services.

Is my data secure?

Yes, as an ISO27001 and Cyber essentials accredited provider, InterpretersLive! use a secure and encrypted platform to deliver the video interpreting service, via their app or WebRtc links.

Can Metro Bank call me back?

Yes, if we need to get in touch with you, we will agree a time to contact you.  You will be sent a notification via email for you to connect to the call.  If you miss the call, just call us back when you are available.
