Metro Bank colleagues from the Crawley store have delivered Money Zone – a financial education workshop to year 6 pupils at The Oaks Primary School and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School. The aim of the complimentary workshop is to raise financial knowledge in children from a young age.
Money Zone is a series of financial education lessons that Metro Bank offers to school children – either virtually or in store. Money Zone comprises of four sessions – budgeting, saving, banking and the last session which takes place in store giving the children a behind the scenes look at the Bank including a visit to the vault. Metro Bank has delivered its Money Zone programme to over 250,000 children.
Crawley Metro Bank’s Store Manager, Nicky Ascenso and Assistant Store Manager, Tony Rodrigues delivered the key modules of the Money Zone programme after which the students were brought into store for a tour of the bank and vault whilst discussing what they have learned in the sessions.
“We’re very pleased to have delivered our Money Zone workshop to the pupils who commented on how inspiring the programme was and how much they had learned from it,” says Crawley Metro Bank’s Store Manager, Nicky Ascenso. “Learning how to budget and save are fundamental skills which everyone needs – and the younger they learn them the better. We hope to deliver more Money Zone sessions to local schools.”
Assistant Store Manager, Tony Rodrigues added: “We are proud of our Money Zone programme and the difference it makes in giving these children a good grounding in their financial education. It is important to teach our children how to budget and learn to save for future needs.”
