International Dog Day competition terms and conditions

  1. THE PROMOTER
    • The promoter is: Metro Bank PLC, a company registered in England with company number 6419578 with its registered address being One Southampton Row, London, WC1B 5HA
  1. THE COMPETITION
    • Customers will be asked to:
      • Like our Instagram post
      • Follow @Metro_Bank on Instagram
      • Share a photo of a furry friend (dog, cat or rabbit) to Instagram and tag @Metro_Bank
      • Photo must feature something red (e.g. red collar, red toy)
    • All entries must be received before 21 September 2021. Entrants will be given a chance to feature in our advertising campaign (in England & Wales) and win a hamper of pet goodies.
    • Three winners will be chosen, one dog, one cat and one rabbit. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges. The winners will be announced via Instagram on Monday 27 September.
  1. HOW TO ENTER
    • The competition will run from 31 August 2021 to midday 21 September 2021.
    • All competition entries must be received by Metro Bank no later than 11.59 on 21 September 2021. All competition entries received after the closing date and time are automatically disqualified.
    • To enter the competition you will need to:
      • Like our Instagram post
      • Follow @Metro_Bank on Instagram
      • Share a photo of a furry friend (dog, cat or rabbit) to Instagram and tag @Metro_Bank
      • Photo must feature something red (e.g. red collar, red toy)
    • Entrants will only be included in the competition ballot once, multiple entries will not be counted.
    • By submitting a competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.
    • The decision of the panel of judges (acting reasonably) will be final.
  1. ELIGIBILITY
    • The competition is open to all residents in the UK
    • If you're under the age of 18, make sure you have permission from your parent or guardian before entering the competition.
    • Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.
    • Metro Bank reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the prize competition.
    • In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim the prize.
  1. THE PRIZE
    • Metro Bank will feature the chosen winners in the Bank’s advertising campaign. The winners will also win a hamper of pet goodies.
    • The prize is not negotiable or transferable.
    • In order to claim the prize you must DM us your contact details through Instagram once you have been notified you are the winner. We will notify you by commenting on your post. Please do not provide your personal details on the public platforms.
    • The chosen winners will then be contacted and asked to send in 3-4 photos of their pet with specific photo requirements (as outlined in Schedule 1 – Photo Requirements) which will be sent to the winners once they have claimed their prize.
    • By accepting the prize to feature in our advertising campaigns, Metro Bank have the rights to use the image across social, store screens, website, and printed collateral.
  1. WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT
    • The winner of the competition will be announced on Metro Bank’s Instagram page on Monday 27 September.
    • Once winners are announced, they will need to private DM Metro Bank via Instagram to claim their prize.
  1. CLAIMING THE PRIZE
    • Please allow 21 days for delivery of the prize.
    • The prize may not be claimed by a third party on your behalf.
    • Metro Bank will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If the winner does not make contact after Metro Bank has attempted two times to get in touch or has not claimed their prize within 14 of days of the announcement date, Metro Bank reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant selected from the correct entries that were received before the closing date.
    • Metro Bank does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the prize.
  1. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
    • Insofar as is permitted by law, Metro Bank will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of Metro Bank, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
  1. OWNERSHIP OF COMPETITION ENTRIES AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
    • All competition entries and any accompanying material submitted to Metro Bank will become the property of Metro Bank on receipt and will not be returned.
    • In relation to the competition entries and any accompanying material you submit, including but not limited to photos submitted to enter the competition and those photos submitted post competition as a winner, you agree to:
      • Assign to Metro Bank all your intellectual property rights with full title guarantee; and
        Waive all moral rights, in and to your competition entry and otherwise arising in connection with your entry to which you may now or at any time in the future be entitled under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended from time to time and under all similar legislation from time to time in force anywhere in the world.
    • You waive any rights to payment or compensation for the use by Metro Bank of your entry submission(s) and/ or accompanying material, including photos submitted post competition as a winner.
  1. DATA PROTECTION AND PUBLICITY
    • If you are the winner of the competition, you agree that Metro Bank may use your name, image and town or county of residence to announce the winner of this competition and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes.
    • By entering the competition, you agree that any personal information provided by you with the competition entry may be held and used only by Metro Bank or its agents and suppliers to administer the competition.
  1. GENERAL
    • If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, Metro Bank may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.
    • Metro Bank reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
    • Metro Bank reserves the right to not include an entry into the competition if the content of the shared post is inappropriate and further reserves the right to report any inappropriate posts to Instagram Administration.
    • These terms and conditions shall be governed by UK law, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the UK.

Schedule 1 – Photo Requirements

  • Capture 3-4 photos of the winning pet on a plain background. A white background is preferable.
  • Photos must be high quality and taken using a smart phone or digital camera. Try to ensure they aren’t pixelated or blurry.
  • Good lighting is very important. The photos can be taken inside or outside, depending on where you find the best light. If the photos are captured outside, please take them during daylight hours.
  • Try to avoid taking the photos in front of a window or in a location where there are harsh shadows across your pet.
  • We want to see your pet looking as natural as possible, please remove any collars from cats or rabbits and avoid using accessories or outfits.
  • Try to capture the pet when they’re sitting or being still.
  • Make sure you can see your whole pet in the shot and they’re positioned in the middle e.g. don’t cut off the tops of ears, paws or tail.
  • Good angles make great picture, try and take the photo at the same level as your pet.
