Colchester Metro Bank will host the first ever Kids in the City event this weekend  - July 29th and 30th – to help raise funds for the NSPCC Childhood Day 2023.

Kids aged from 7-12 will be taking over across Colchester sampling new careers including a stint at Metro Bank’s High Street store – a perfect way to spend a summer holiday weekend.

“We are really looking forward to meeting our new recruits” said Colchester Metro Bank assistant store manager, Lauren Crow.  “The kids will experience every aspect of banking including a behind the scenes tour of our bank vault and safe deposit boxes, as well as having a go on our coin counting Magic Money Machine. Who knows maybe they’ll be inspired to become the next governor of the Bank of England!”

As a community bank, Metro Bank is committed to supporting children’s financial education.  Metro Bank has created Money Zone is a series of financial education lessons that are offered to school children - either virtually or in store. Money Zone comprises of four sessions - budgeting, saving, banking and the last session which takes place in store. Metro Bank has delivered its Money Zone programme at over 2,500 schools and 250,000 children and any interested teachers need to contact their local store for more information.

Metro Bank’s Colchester store can be found at 31-32 High Street, Colchester, CO1 1DB. The store is open Monday – Saturday: 8.30am - 6pm and Sunday: 11am - 5pm.
