Metro Bank Successful Charity Dog Rehoming Event Just Leaves “Wonky” Wendy Waiting for a New Home
Metro Bank famously loves dogs. Its stores in Birmingham, Solihull, Wolverhampton and Merry Hill have all joined forces to sponsor a kennel at Birmingham Dogs Home with Bank colleagues pledging to fundraise and volunteer for the dogs throughout 2022.
The first rehoming event held in the Solihull Metro Bank store proved a great success with all the dogs who were showcased on the day now finding their forever homes except for “Wonky” Wendy.
“Customers and colleagues loved having the dogs in store,” explains Solihull Metro Bank store manager, Dan Whild. “We are so glad that by giving Birmingham Dogs Home a high street profile for a day, we helped raise awareness about the important work they do caring for dogs who need a new home. Resplendent in her very own pushchair Wendy was definitely the star of the show and a big hit with kids as she was at their eye level.”
Wendy is a British bulldog that has a series of health issues. Wendy was brought to Birmingham Dogs Home as a stray as she was found abandoned in Solihull. As Fi Harrison, head of fundraising explains “Birmingham Dogs Home is sparing no expense to see that Wendy gets all the support she needs to get back her health and improve the quality of her life – but whilst treatment is undergoing Wendy struggles to walk in a straight line hence her affectionate nickname Wonky Wendy. Whilst receiving medical care, Wendy is currently being fostered by one of our team, so she is getting all of the TLC she so deserves.”
Birmingham Dog Home will celebrate its 130th birthday later in the year. The charity entirely relies on donations and has a series of fundraising events planned this year to celebrate its birthday.
The Metro Bank Solihull store is located at 119 High Street, Solihull, B91 3SR.
