Bradford Metro Bank is undertaking the Great Accumulator Challenge to trade up £30 into £3,000 for Martin House Children’s Hospice by the end of March. The store is also working with many local Bradford businesses to collect prizes for a charity fundraising auction.
Based in Boston Spa, Martin House Children’s Hospice helps children and young people in and around Bradford with a life-limiting condition, along with their families, to live well and fully, offering the best possible end of life care and support to the family in bereavement.
In the first day of trading, Bradford Metro Bank has transformed its original donation a £30 Bradford BID gift card into £60 to spend at Ice Stone Gelato.
“We believe we need about ten trades to hit our target and the final trade up will also be part of the charity auction,” explains Metro Bank local business manager, Lizzie Jowett. “We are calling on the support and generosity of Bradford residents and businesses to help us meet this charity challenge.”
The first prize donated by local businesses to the charity auction was free coffee and cake from Tiffin Coffee Grand and the Bank has already received over £100 in donations.
Bradford Metro Bank colleagues are also planning a series of fundraising events through March including dress up Friday, a safe deposit box tombola, an internal cake sale and a sweet tooth challenge – closely followed by a charity bike ride to burn off all the calories.
Any Bradford resident or business that wants to take part, or make a donation, can either come into store or contact Lizzie Jowett, Fraser Anderson or Denis Charlette here.
The Great Accumulator Trade Up challenge is being run on social media – visit Lizzie Jowett’s LinkedIn page to see its status.
