The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, recently welcomed the leader of Cardiff City Council, councillor Huw Thomas to its Newport store.
Hosted by Metro Bank’s local director, John Lloyd-Jones and local business manager, Zoe Prynne, Huw enjoyed a tour of the bank including its vault. The councillor was delighted to hear about the different services Metro Bank offers to its customers and Metro Bank’s contributions to the local community especially the bank’s commitment to offering free financial education to local schools.
Huw Thomas was first elected to the Council in May 2012 and became Wales’ youngest council leader when re-elected in May 2017 aged 31.
“As a community bank, we are here to support our local businesses as well as Cardiff residents,” explains Cardiff Metro Bank’s local director, John Lloyd-Jones. “Huw enjoyed a tour of our store and was particularly interested in our safe deposit vault. He was also impressed by our building and commented on the store’s strategic location.”
Zoe Prynne, local business manager, added “Huw was pleased about our motto of people people banking as many customers still value being able to talk to someone – especially as we have a number of Welsh speakers instore which he viewed as a great asset. However, he also recognised the value of our drive thru facility for customers who want speedy transactions and service on the go.”
Metro Bank’s Cardiff Newport Road store is located at 507 Newport Rd, Cardiff CF23 9AD. The store is currently open Monday – Saturday 08:30am - 6pm. Sunday: 11am - 5pm.
