Evenings and weekends most popular times to open Metro Bank accounts
The Metro Bank policy of being open early and open later, seven days a week, has been a big hit with its customers.
Since opening its doors on 29 July, the new bank which has adopted a retail model, has reported brisk business in the evenings and on Sundays - when other banks are closed. Metro Bank believes it is important to be open when it’s convenient for customers, not when it’s convenient for the bank. That is why it offers extended opening hours with stores open seven days a week for retail and business customers (8am-8pm Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm Saturday, 11am-4pm Sunday and bank holidays), every day of the year apart from Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Metro Bank data shows the most popular time for customers to open accounts is in the evenings and at weekends - long after traditional banks have closed their doors to customers.
The news comes as Britain's first High Street bank to launch for 100 years, prepares for the opening of its third store on 1 October in Fulham Broadway, West London.
Craig Donaldson, Chief Executive Officer at Metro Bank, commented: “Metro Bank is pleased to be open for its customers twice as long at the traditional banks. People would be up in arms if they couldn’t do their supermarket shop after work, or pop into their local department store at the weekend, and Metro Bank asks why banking should be any different?

And to cater to high customer demand and due to the overwhelming response to the Holborn and Cromwell Road launches, we wanted to bring forward the openings of the rest of the stores in 2010.”

Customers at the Fulham Broadway store will be greeted by two days of free give aways including free breakfasts, smoothies, and popcorn. Stilt walkers, musicians, jugglers and shoe shiners will add sparkle to the latest store opening.
