Birmingham Metro Bankers Turn Chefs to Cook for Homeless People
The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Colleagues from Metro Bank’s Birmingham store decided to use their Day to Amaze by volunteering for SIFA Fireside where they helped prepare over seventy meals for homeless people.
SIFA Fireside is a charity that supports people in their recovery from the effects of homelessness. The charity helps people rebuild their lives by providing a number of services through an adult support hub, drop-in centre and tenancy support. Metro Bank colleagues Sat Singh, Rav Bagri and Beth Freeman helped prepare the meals.
“As a community bank you can always bank on our support,” says Rav Bagri, Birmingham Metro Bank’s Local Director. “Some of our colleagues were here to volunteer a few weeks ago and we’re happy to be back again to support such a good cause. We hope to volunteer again in the future.”
Metro Bank’s Birmingham store is located at 85 to 88 High St, Birmingham B4 7TE. The store is currently open Monday – Saturday: 8.30am - 6pm, Sunday: 11am - 5pm.
