Metro Bank continues its fast paced expansion with the opening of its 22nd store in the City of London. To mark the opening, the UK’s most revolutionary bank will be holding two days of celebrations on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd November. City workers, residents and businesses visiting the store will experience entertainment including stilt walkers, shoe shining, manicures, balloons and music, as well as free food, and most importantly, a new and convenient, customer focused bank for personal and business customers.

The new Cheapside Metro Bank store can be found at 120 Cheapside, City of London, EC2V 7JB. Customers will be looked after by a team led by Local Director Dominic Wright and Store Manager Corey Brock.

The City store opening is the latest step in Metro Bank’s expansion plan. The bank has this month hired its 1,000th colleague, representing an increase of more than 100% in 2013. Its store footprint has also increased significantly in 2013, with customer growth continuing at an unprecedented rate. Two more stores in Windsor and Edgware are planned for 2013, and up to 12 stores planned for 2014 in areas including Milton Keynes and Brighton.

Metro Bank launched in July 2010 with a focus on providing unparalleled levels of service and convenience to customers. It is bringing back traditional retail banking for personal and business customers, coupled with amazing technology. Unlike any other bank in the UK, Metro Bank also provides free coin counting for customers and non-customers with Metro Bank Magic Money Machines, instant production and replacements for lost or stolen debit cards*, and a 24 hour contact centre manned by people not machines. All of these benefits can be enjoyed at a time that is convenient to local residents and businesses as Metro Bank is open 8am – 8pm Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm Saturday and 11am – 5pm Sunday and bank holidays, 362 days a year.

Customers wishing to reserve a Safe Deposit Box at the Cheapside store can do so online in advance of the opening by visiting here.

Craig Donaldson, Chief Executive Officer at Metro Bank, said: “City workers often start work early and finish late, and need a bank that fits around them. Our job is to make banking easy for our customers and the store launch will ensure that thousands of City workers and the local businesses that support them have access to amazing banking services, whenever and however they need them.

“Metro Bank’s continued success and growth is a triumph for customer service. We know what customers want, and we’ve seen thousands of people join us for the unparalleled levels of service and convenience we offer. From the 21st November the people and businesses of the City of London will be able to switch to our award winning current account** in just seven working days through our Easy, Instant and Guaranteed service. We look forward to opening on Cheapside and bringing convenient and customer focused banking to the people and businesses of the City of London.”
