Metro Bank bursts onto Chelmsford High Street

10th November 2016
  • New Metro Bank store comes to Chelmsford
  • Grand Opening celebrations to take place on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 November

Metro Bank, the first new high street bank in more than 100 years, is set to bring the banking revolution to the city of Chelmsford, with the opening of its 45th store on Friday 18 November.

To celebrate its launch, the bank is inviting Chelmsford residents to join colleagues for its grand opening festivities. The two-day long party taking place in store will feature live music, stilt walkers, dog shows, giveaways and fun for the whole family.

Kevin Walker, Regional Director at Metro Bank commented: “We’re thrilled to bring the banking revolution to the heart of Chelmsford. At a time when many banks are retreating from the high street, Metro Bank is committed to putting customers’ needs first, opening new stores and bringing our convenient banking services to more and more communities. We’re very much looking forward to meeting lots of local residents at our grand opening celebrations and look forward to being part of such a vibrant city.”

With more than 600 bank branches (1) closing over the past year and over 2,500 shops (2) deserting Britain’s high streets in the first six months of this year alone, Metro Bank remains determined to give customers the choice to bank whenever, wherever and however they want, whether in store, online, over the phone or through an app.

As a firm supporter of Britain’s high streets, the bank prides itself on using its high street stores as community hubs, with each and every store hosting a range of events throughout the year to support local people and businesses, from SME networking sessions, to its free financial education programme for children.

Unlike any other bank in the UK, Metro Bank provides instant account opening along with on-the-spot card printing for lost or stolen credit or debit cards. All stores offer safe deposit boxes for customers’ valuables and free coin counting for customers and non-customers alike.

The new Chelmsford team will be led by Sue O’Brien, Store Manager and Liam Hutchings, Local Director, and can be found at 38 High Street, Chelmsford, CM1 1BE.

With retail opening hours, stores are open seven days a week, from early in the morning to late at night: 8am - 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am – 6pm Saturday, and 11am – 5pm on Sundays and bank holidays, 362 days a year.
