The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Jane Lindsey, a Metro Bank colleague from the Business and Commercial Operations team has successfully completed a 10-mile Wellness Walk through Central London, raising over £190 in support of Diabetes UK.
Diabetes UK is a healthcare professional and research charity which campaigns for the improvement of care and treatment for diabetes patients and works to prevent future cases.
The Wellness Walk, a challenge aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles, saw participants walking from Battersea Park to Tower Bridge, crossing back and forth over London’s iconic bridges. The walk took place on a beautiful, sunny day offering scenic views of London’s landmarks. Jane completed the challenge in just two hours and fifty minutes.
Diagnosed with pre-diabetes last year, Jane embraced the opportunity to make significant lifestyle changes with the help of a diabetes prevention course. Now, after months of dedication, she is proud to report that she is no longer pre-diabetic. “A massive thank you to all those who supported me throughout this journey and helped in raising the funds,” says Metro Bank’s Business and Commercial Operations Specialist, Jane Lindsey. The journey has been a personal milestone for me, and walking in support of Diabetes UK has added even more meaning to my health transformation.”
