Throughout October, Metro Bank colleagues came together to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, raising an impressive £1381 for the Breast Cancer Now charity. Colleagues participated in the charity’s Wear It Pink initiative, proudly donning pink on the official breast cancer awareness day and continuing to show their support throughout the month.
Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s largest breast cancer research and support charity, working tirelessly to improve early detection and provide critical care to those diagnosed with breast cancer. Through events like Wear It Pink, the charity raises both awareness and funds to help save lives and improve outcomes for those living with the disease.
In addition to raising funds, Metro Bank colleagues worked to promote awareness around the importance of early detection and regular self-checks. Teams organised bake sales and quizzes where vital information about breast cancer was shared, including key statistics and guidance on how to check for signs of the disease. Several colleagues also bravely shared their personal journeys with breast cancer, offering words of encouragement and hope to those affected by the illness.
“We are incredibly proud of our colleagues for their passionate participation in Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” said Jo Duxon, Metro Bank’s co-Chair of the gender equality network. “Not only did they raise a fantastic amount for Breast Cancer Now, but they also took the opportunity to educate the others and share personal stories that truly brought our community closer.”
