Metro Bank founder becomes Emeritus Chairman

Metro Bank today announces that Vernon Hill has decided to step down from his role as Chairman with immediate effect, while remaining a Non-Executive Director until 31 December 2019, and has agreed to accept the honorary position of Emeritus Chairman. Emeritus Chairman is an honorary title to recognise Vernon’s extraordinary contribution to Metro Bank.

Sir Michael Snyder has been appointed as interim Chairman with immediate effect, subject to regulatory approval, until a permanent successor is appointed.

Commenting, Sir Michael Snyder, said: "The Board thanks Vernon for his vision which inspired and created Metro Bank ten years ago. He leaves a lasting legacy of creating fans through exceptional customer service and has revolutionised British banking.”
