METRO BANK OPENS FIRST STORE OUTSIDE OF CENTRAL LONDON WITH BOREHAMWOOD, HERTZ

25th October 2010

Store opens in Borehamwood, Herts on Friday 29 October Metro Bank, the first UK High Street bank in over 100 years, is opening its first store outside of London on 29 October in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

The store - the fourth to open in three months - will build on the success of Metro Bank’s Holborn HQ which exceeded expectations within the first month of trading.

Metro Bank’s tailor made store, in the heart of Borehamwood town centre, will give customers outside of London their first chance to experience the revolutionary banking concept which promises unparalleled service and convenience.

The store located in Borehamwood’s Shopping Park, off Theobald Street, will offer seven days a week store banking and will have longer opening hours than other banks. Its location means it’s easily accessible for customers and allows parking outside the store, ultimately providing an enhanced customer experience.

Craig Donaldson, Chief Executive Officer at Metro Bank, said: “We are really excited to be opening our first store outside of central London and taking the banking revolution to Borehamwood. The store is set in a fantastic location and allows us to be in the heart of the town to provide an unrivalled level of service to customers. We’re looking forward to being able to give consumers and businesses outside of London a chance to experience convenient and flexible banking outside of traditional banking hours.

“The British public want longer opening hours than currently being offered by the traditional high street banks. Metro Bank is really getting into the heart of local communities. We will be where our customers want us to be.”

This latest store opening forms part of Metro Bank’s expansion plan to open over 200+ stores over the next 10 years in Greater London, to provide a better banking experience to the British public. Metro Bank is planning to open a further eight stores across London and the Home Counties in 2011.

Customers at the Borehamwood store will be greeted by two days of free give aways including free breakfasts, smoothies, and popcorn. Stilt walkers, musicians, jugglers, face painting and shoe shiners will add sparkle to the latest store opening.
