Colleagues from Metro Bank’s Crawley store have delivered Money Zone - a financial education workshop to 5th Crawley beavers and cubs – a group of six to ten years old children supported by Crawley District Scout Council.
Crawley District Scout Council is a charity working with young people across Crawley to help provide them with life skills. The aim of the complimentary workshop is to instil financial knowledge in children from a young age.
Money Zone is a series of financial education lessons that Metro Bank offers children - either virtually or in-store. Money Zone comprises of four sessions - budgeting, saving, banking and the last session which takes place in a store. This visit gives children a behind-the-scenes look at the Bank, including a visit to the vault and the chance to try the Magic Money Machine. Metro Bank has delivered its Money Zone programme to over 250,000 school children.
The Magic Money Machine is a coin counter available for free to Metro Bank customers.
Crawley Metro Bank’s Store Manager, Nicky Ascenso and Customer Service Representative, James Large delivered the key Money Zone sessions which ended with lots of questions as the children toured the vault.
“As a community bank, we are glad to be doing our part in making sure that children are equipped with financial skills they will use for life,” says Jason Large. “It was a fun series of sessions and I enjoyed how engaged the children were.”
Nicky Ascenso added: “We are glad to have delivered our first Money Zone programme of the year and we are looking forward to delivering more of these sessions throughout the year.”
