Metro Bank continues its regional expansion with new openings to come in Newcastle and Leeds.
Metro Bank has announced its regional store expansion strategy as it focuses on relationships and offering physical, in-person banking. The plans include two new stores coming to Newcastle and Leeds. This builds on three stores opened in 2025 in Chester, Salford and Gateshead. Metro Bank is the only High Street bank to be opening new stores across England, with a commitment that it will continue to provide a physical presence and cash access.
Aisling Kane, MD Retail and Business Banking at Metro Bank said: “We’re continuing to grow our store model, offering personal and business customers more places to bank at a time when others are shutting their doors. Our relationship banking service is at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to deepen our presence in more communities through our local colleagues, events and partnerships. Our new stores will help us to support more customers and provide vital access to finance for businesses of all sizes.”
Across all its 78 locations, Metro Bank is open Monday to Friday 9.30am-5pm, with Saturday opening hours extended last year in 34 stores from 9.30am-4pm - the longest bank opening hours in the UK. A Safe Deposit Box service is offered in most store locations. Safe Spaces are provided in 54 stores to support victims of domestic abuse.
