- Customer-focussed bank to open in Peterborough
- Bank welcomes Norwich and Peterborough Building Society customers
Metro Bank, the revolutionary high street bank, is set to open a new store in Peterborough city centre later this year. The bank, which prides itself on its high street presence, is looking forward to welcoming local residents and businesses, and particularly those impacted by the closure of Norwich and Peterborough Building Society.
The city will benefit from the new store being open retail hours, seven days a week, early until late, 362 days a year, as well as creating around 25 new jobs for local people. Unlike any other bank, Metro Bank provides instant account opening, along with on-the-spot card printing, meaning customers can pop in at a time convenient to them and walk out with a fully-functioning account, all without an appointment. All stores also offer safe deposit boxes for customers’ valuables and free coin counting for customers and non-customers alike.
Iain Kirkpatrick, Managing Director of Retail Banking at Metro Bank commented: “We are excited to be opening a new store in Peterborough later this year at a time when so many other banks are closing their branches and deserting the high street. We recognise how important face-to-face relationships are and our new store will not only create new career opportunities for local people, but bring with it a true banking alternative.”
Metro Bank sources the very best locations for its stores and is proud to make an investment in Peterborough, securing a prominent location at 29 Long Causeway, Peterborough, PE1 1YJ.
The bank is planned to open later this year, and will join its network of 48 stores, including locations in Colchester and Cambridge.
All stores are open at the most convenient time for local residents and businesses from 8am to 8pm Monday to Fridays, 8am to 6pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays and bank holidays, 362 days a year.
