Metro Bank Colleagues Take On Mammoth Golf Challenge
To Raise £2,600 for Macmillan Cancer Support
Staines Metro Bank store manager Chet Grewall, assistant store managers, Shaan Bangar, Thomas Armstrong and Tran Ruprah with local director, Adam Durrant spent 14.5 hours on windy and wet day, playing 72 holes during four rounds of golf to raise the funds through sponsorship at South Bucks Golf Course. Each member of the team walked over 24 miles in just one day – racking up a staggering 50,000 steps each.
“Perhaps not as relaxing as our usual golf days, but very worthwhile” said Shaan Bangar, assistant store manager, Metro Bank. “Everyone really rose to the challenge – even if we did lose a whole bucket of balls in the process! A huge thank you to all the colleagues, customers and everyone in the local community who helped us raise such a fantastic sum for such a worthwhile cause. There isn’t anyone whose life has not been touched by cancer, so we are thrilled to have been able to raise so much money in just one day.”
The event was held at South Buckinghamshire Golf Club which not only let the gentlemen play for free but even opened at 5.30am to give everyone the best sporting chance to complete the challenge – play eventually completed at 9pm.
In 2018, Macmillan Cancer Support reached 6.7 million people affected by cancer. The charity is the leading expert on the needs and experiences of people affected by cancer in the UK.
