The UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Five colleagues from Metro Bank’s Putney store recently spent their Day to Amaze volunteering at the local community centre supporting South London Scouts.
The South London Scouts welcomes children and young adults from ages 4 – 25 and organises a series of activities from kayaking to coding. The goal of these activities is to help young people develop lifelong skills such as resilience, tenacity, problem solving and even practical skills like cooking.
Putney Metro Bank colleagues Maria Roussi, Chantelle Ayoku, Thomas Rudland, Alan Law and Salina Tewolde spent a very productive day weeding the centre’s overgrown garden.
“We love using our Day to Amaze to support our local community,” explains Maria Roussi, Metro Bank’s Putney Store Manager. “Working outside was a pleasant change and we collected more than twenty bags of garden waste and rubbish! It was satisfying to see how clean we left the centre and we hope that the kids can now have even more fun in their new look garden.”
Metro Bank’s Putney store is located at 89-93 Putney High St, London SW15 1SR. The store is open Monday – Saturday: 8.30am - 6pm and Sunday: 11am - 5pm.
