Sheffield Metro Bank is partnering with law firm, Bhayani HR & Employment Law and sister company Bhayani Recruitment to host a hidden disabilities in the workplace event on Wednesday February 22nd from 5.30-7pm at its Fargate store.
The complimentary event is open to all and attendees will be able to gain valuable advice and information from employment and HR professionals in a relaxed format, as well as network and share experiences.
The world of work has historically been a difficult place for employees with neurodiverse conditions to be themselves. But now, thanks to changing attitudes and developments within employment law, employers are starting to understand the unique talents and perspectives that those employees with conditions such as ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, and Tourette’s syndrome to name but a few, can bring to their business. Around 12 million people in the UK are estimated to be neurodivergent – that’s up to 20% of the total population.
Speakers at the event will take a closer look at neurodiversity and the importance of implementing inclusive hiring practices and encouraging employees to speak their mind whilst guiding businesses as to how support and manage neurodivergent colleagues.
Metro Bank is one of the founding charter members of Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) – a new industry forum to support the participation of neurodivergent individuals in the workplace.
“We are proud to be part of NiB,” commented Jav Khan, Local Director, Sheffield Metro Bank. “We are committed to raising awareness of neurodiversity and proud to be hosting this event which will help businesses inform and improve their approach to neurodivergent individuals.’
Metro Bank’s Sheffield store is located at 58-64 Fargate, Sheffield, S1 2HE. The store is open Monday – Saturday: 8:30am - 6pm. Sunday: 11am - 5pm.
