'Sighs' of Relief as the Banking Revolution Arrives in Oxford

20th August 2018
  • Local residents and businesses invited to a welcome party on Friday, 31 August and Saturday, 1 September
  • Celebrations to include free face painting, manicures, shoe shining, music and much, much more

Metro Bank, the revolution in British banking, will be marking the official opening of its new store in the city of dreaming spires, with a two-day long, grand opening extravaganza for the whole community. To celebrate the arrival of the award-winning customer-focused bank, it is inviting local residents and businesses to a party like no other at its Queen Street store on Friday 31 August and Saturday 1 September.

Kicking off at 8am when the store opens, the community will be in for a treat with entertainment and freebies all day long, including stilt walkers, a DJ, free manicures and face painting.

Maria Manion, CEO at Oxford BID said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Metro Bank to Oxford. For residents and our strong business community, its passion for the local community is highly regarded and will be a welcomed part of the high street.”

With a focus on traditional face-to-face banking, supported by state-of-the-art technology, the bank customers are able to bank however, whenever and wherever they choose; whether that’s face-to-face in store, online, through its award-winning app or on the phone. Unlike any other bank, Metro Bank provides instant account opening, along with on-the-spot card printing, meaning customers can walk in without an appointment and walk out with a fully-functioning account. What’s more, the store will also have almost 3,000 safe deposit boxes for customers to store their valuables and free coin counting facilities for customers and non-customers alike.

Craig Donaldson, CEO at Metro Bank added: “We’re really excited to be opening up in the heart of Oxford and to show the community just what great customer service looks like. Whether you simply want the convenience of having a store available when you need it with colleagues ready to help, or you’re looking for the personal touch when it comes to managing your own or your business’ finances; we’re ready to make a real difference to the way Oxford banks.”

The new store, located at 4-5 Queen Street, OX1 1EJ, will be led by Local Director, Ashley Keen, Store Manager, Joe McGowan, and Local Business Manager, Grant Shergold. All stores are open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Fridays, 8am to 6pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays and bank holidays, 362 days a year.
