Solihull Metro Bank Hosts Art for Fairtrade Art Trail
In celebration of Fairtrade Art Trail and during Fairtrade Fortnight, the UK’s community bank, Metro Bank, will display a striking handmade sculpture by students from the Solihull School The theme for this year’s Fairtrade is ‘Choose the World you Want’ and over 16 businesses will be participating by displaying artwork created by local schools from Saturday 19 February – Sunday 6 March.
“As a community bank, we are very proud to support the work of Fairtrade to secure fair treatment of workers and farmers around the world,” explains Kulvinder Dhanda, Solihull Metro Bank assistant store manager. “After experiencing such a tough couple of years, this year’s theme ‘Choose the World You Want’ will truly resonate with many of us. I hope that the trail will encourage people of all ages to think about the choices they make, be mindful of their actions and make the world a better place for everyone.”
Schools across Solihull have been busy creating handmade sculptures and artwork for this year’s theme. The Solihull Fairtrade Trail is a fun and educational exercise which features a quiz where participants will visit artwork displayed in well-known shops in Solihull Town Centre to get answers.
Fairtrade Fortnight is a two week period from the end of February and start of March when thousands of individuals, companies and groups across the UK come together to share stories from a broad range of topics including farming, mining and even exploitation and underpayment in the labour force.
