Metro Bank, the revolution in British banking, is set to open its first East Midlands store in central Northampton this winter, creating around 25 new jobs for local people.

Serving residents from Wellingborough to Banbury and beyond, the seven-day-a-week store will combine traditional face-to-face banking with state-of-the-art technology, providing residents and businesses with a customer-centric and convenient banking experience. It will occupy a prominent site in the heart of the town at 27-29 Abington Street, NN1 2AN.

Rob Purdie, Executive Director at Northampton BID commented: “By bringing Metro Bank’s passion and community-focused service to Northampton’s high street, we hope to revive the face-to-face, personal banking approach amongst residents here, and continue to make Northampton a great place to live and work.”

Craig Donaldson, CEO at Metro Bank added: “We’re delighted to be opening a store in Northampton and showing the community what great customer service and convenience looks like. From early in the morning until late at night, seven-days-a-week our colleagues will be at hand offering traditional relationship banking supported by state-of-the-art technology. We look forward to welcoming both local residents and businesses to the banking revolution over the coming weeks and months.”

Metro Bank Northampton will act as a hub for the community, hosting a range of charity fundraisers and business networking events throughout the year. The store will also deliver its free financial education programme, Money Zones, to schools and youth groups in the area. The National Curriculum approved training, which is provided through classroom and store-based sessions, has already supported more than 1000,000 children across the UK with their financial literacy.

All stores offer extended retail opening hours for local people from 8am to 8pm Monday to Fridays, 8am to 6pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays and bank holidays, 362 days a year.
