Colleagues from Wolverhampton’s Metro Bank will be supporting women in two ways this year to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th.
The Dudley Street store and its colleagues will turn purple during Empurple Week (March 7th – 13th) as this is the colour most associated with a stand against domestic abuse of women.
Colleagues will also be volunteering as painters and decorators for The Haven charity. Metro Bank gives every colleague a Day to Amaze – essentially a paid day off to support a local charity or good cause. Jaz Govindan, the store’s assistant manager is organising the volunteers, “We are all looking forward to a completely different work day helping the charity out.”
The Haven Wolverhampton supports women and children who have been subjected to domestic abuse, and women who are at risk of homelessness. Through both practical and emotional support provided by The Haven, women and children are able to begin their journey towards healing and transforming their lives.
“As a community bank, we want to support our local charities with the support they really need,” explains Aman Dhillon, Wolverhampton’s Metro Bank store manager. “We are hoping to both fundraise for the Haven during Empurple Week and roll up our sleeves and get stuck in with decorating the centre.”
Metro Bank’s Wolverhampton store is located at 6-7 Dudley St, Wolverhampton WV1 3EY. The store is currently open Monday – Saturday 08:30am - 6pm. Sunday: 11am - 5pm.
