How do I open a Metro Bank Current account?

We’ve made it really easy to open a personal current account with Metro Bank, you can apply either online or in store! 

If you open your account in store, we’ll print your bank card and cheque book there and then. We can even set you up with Internet Banking and Mobile App. You will need one proof of identity and 2 proofs of address.  Please have a look our Store locator to find your closest store.

To open your account online you will need: Your current email address, mobile number, a photo ID, a camera on your device, 3 years of address history and need to be a UK, EU, or Swiss national.

Opening an account online you will be able to register for Internet Banking and choose to receive your new card in the post or arrange to pick up a card in store. Please see Open your new Current Account online

Please keep in mind that we cannot open current accounts over the phone. We can only open a savings account over the phone only if you are an existing current account holder.
