Where’s the recipient located?

 

 Outside of the UK (or within the UK if the payment is not in Pound Sterling) In a Single European Payment Area (SEPA) member country (take a look at the European Payments Council  for full list of countries)

 

What currency can be sent?

 

Euro, Pound Sterling, US Dollar Euro

 

How long does it take?

 

Payments sent before 2pm within Europe usually arrive the same working day but can take up to 5 days.

Outside of Europe, payments are usually received within 2 to 5 working days

Payments sent before 2pm will usually arrive the next working day. Payments sent after this time can take up to 2 working days to arrive. 

Payments submitted on a weekend will be processed the next Monday (or Tuesday if there’s a bank holiday)

 

Are there any charges?

 

 Yes - £25 from GBP account, $25 from USD account or €20 from a EUR account

Yes – £0.20 or the equivalent from an USD/EUR account

Which currencies are available?

Euros (EUR), US dollars (USD) and UK sterling (GBP)

If you’d like to make a payment in a different currency, please call us or visit one of our stores – we’ll be happy to process it for you.

Which countries can I send payments to?

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK (including Guernsey and the Isle of Man), Gibraltar, Jersey and USA.

What’s the exchange rate I’ll receive?

We offer an indicative exchange rate in the app which can move up or down after you’ve placed the payment. The final exchange rate will be applied when the money leaves your account.

Which accounts can I make a payment from?

International Payments can be made from any current account (personal or business). They can’t be made from savings accounts, cash accounts or credit cards

What details do I need to make an International Payment?

For SEPA payments you’ll need the recipient’s name and IBAN.

For SWIFT payments you’ll need the recipient’s name, account number or IBAN (except for the USA, where you would enter the ABA/Routing number instead).

What are SWIFT/IBAN/BIC codes?

IBAN: International Bank Account Number. The first two characters of the IBAN are letters, and the next two characters are numbers. The remaining characters are either letters or numbers.

SWIFT/BIC: SWIFT codes are eight or eleven characters long. The first six characters are letters, and the remaining characters are either letters or numbers. The fifth and sixth characters of the SWIFT code (e.g. MYMBGB2L) and the first two characters of the IBAN (e.g. GB01MYMB23058012121212) represent the country the payment is being sent to (in this case, GB = Great Britain).

If both SWIFT and IBAN codes are supplied, the country codes must be the same in each one

Who will it be available for?

International Payments will be available for customers eligible to register for our mobile app, including both personal and business customers. Commercial Online Banking and Business Online Plus customers are able to make international payments by logging into online banking.
