All Metro Bank cards support contactless payments. Just tap on the reader at the till and you’re done.
No direct debits for this account and limits on cash withdrawals.

You can apply to open a Cash Account if:
Children under 11 do not need to come in store to open a Cash Account – their parent or guardian can open the account on their behalf. If you’re aged between 11 and 15, please come in store with your parent or guardian. Read through section 3 of our list of what you need to make sure you bring the right documents.
You can withdraw a maximum of £300 a day from cash machines using your cash card. You can also take money out in store – a maximum of £300 a day if you’re aged between 11 and 15 and up to £1,000 if you’re 16 or over.
If you want to withdraw more than £1,000 you’ll need to give us one weekday's notice.
You can make Faster Payments in store, over the phone, via your Internet Banking or using the latest version of our Mobile Banking app. CHAPS payments can be made in store or over the phone and if the payment is made before 2pm on any working day it will usually reach the recipient on the same day. CHAPS payments made after 3pm will mean that the recipient receives your payment the next working day.
Cheques normally take 5 working days to process. If you’d like to know how quickly you can withdraw your funds after a cheque has been paid into your account you can take a look at our cheque clearance guide.
Important: Cheques will begin to be processed as soon as they are received by a bank, which could be on the same day as it’s written. Please ensure you have enough money in your account to cover all your payments, including cheques, to avoid becoming overdrawn.
To keep it simple there are some restrictions on how you use this account.
Limited transactions – you can pay into your Cash account however you like, but you can’t set up direct debits. You can only pay for purchases online in GBP

You can buy things online, in GBP only. Using your cash card outside the UK is limited too.
These limits help you keep track of what you’re spending and there’s less chance of going overdrawn.

We’ve made it really easy to open an account with Metro Bank. Just come in to one of our stores with your proof of ID. There’s no need for an appointment. You’ll be able to use your account straight away and we’ll print your bank card and cheque book there and then.
There are some restrictions on how you can use your card outside the UK. You can use your cash card to withdraw money and make payments outside the UK where the Link logo is shown on cash machines. At the moment, this is in France, Gibraltar, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Payments over the internet can be made in GBP only.
