Christopher Sharman set up DOUGH&co Woodfired Pizza in 2018 after being a fine-dining chef for over 14 years. He started serving pizza out of a horsebox at events, and soon after decided to open his first premises in Sudbury. By September 2019 he had two more pizza restaurants, and by December 2020 the chain had grown to 12.
Chris takes pride in the authenticity of the food, sourcing ingredients direct from Italy. He endeavours to make the business as green as possible: the wall panelling and tables are made from recycled pallets, and compressed, recycled wood-shaving briquettes are used in their efficient, DEFRA-certified ovens, while DOUGH&co pizza boxes are made from recycled cardboard.
As well as pizza restaurants, Chris has branched out into burgers and now operates Burger Amour from some of the same sites as DOUGH&co.
DOUGH&co’s relationship with Metro Bank started in September 2019 when Chris consolidated his business bank accounts with Metro Bank. Today Chris has multiple Metro Bank business accounts and an overdraft facility* which has helped enable the growth of Dough&co through investment in new equipment and premises.
Local Business Manager at the Colchester store, Neeth has built a strong relationship with Chris, supporting him with his everyday banking needs.
Chris says, “Ever since we joined Metro Bank, I have found it an absolute pleasure dealing with the incredibly helpful team there.” He likes the straightforward approach to banking, and the ease of service offered by Metro Bank – as well as having a very responsive and understanding Local Business Manager on hand at all times.
