Frequently asked questions

What do I need to open a charity account?

You need to be classified as a club, society or charity with a turnover or annual balance sheet total of £250,000 or under.

You’ll need to visit your local store to open an account. To make account opening a smooth process take a look at the documents you’ll need to bring with you to open an account. Help opening a business account.

The club, society or charity officials will also need to show proof of identity – in the same way as is required for opening a personal account. See the documents you need.

What’s a Charity Banking Analysis?

As a charity or community banking customer, you can benefit from our free consultative review, called a Charity Banking Analysis. We do a really thorough job of understanding your organisation and give you pointers on making efficiencies and streamlining your processes. Can my school use your charity and community accounts?

It depends. These accounts are specifically for charities, so if your school is set up as a charity or part of the organisation is run as a charity then we would be able to provide a charity account for that particular body. If you are interested it is a good idea to talk to us about your situation and we’ll let you know how we can help.

Can I make and receive international payments from my Community Current Account?

Yes, you can make and receive international payments from your Community Current Account. There is a £25 charge to make an international payment.

Can I use internet banking with my Community Current Account?

Yes, you can bank online for free with your Community Current Account – so you can manage your money 24/7. If your organisation has complex needs and you want to be able to easily integrate your transactions with your accounts processes you may prefer to use Commercial Online Banking.
