Apple Pay services on our Business Accounts
We had to temporarily pause Apple Pay so we could make some improvements. These upgrades are now finished and brand new debit cards are on their way to our business customers – they should all be delivered by mid-December.
You’ll need to activate your new card once you receive it, and add the card details to your phone – then you’ll be ready to start paying with again.
In the meantime, your accounts will work as normal and you can still use contactless. If you have any questions, call 0345 08 08 508 or visit us in store – we’re open seven days a week.
Apple Pay is already accepted wherever contactless payment is – just look out for the contactless or Apple Pay logo.
Pay with a single touch within apps on iPhone and iPad. Checking out is as easy as selecting Apple Pay and placing your finger on Touch ID.
No card details are stored on your device and you verify every transaction with Touch ID or your passcode.
Just a few simple steps and you can pay with contactless straight away.
Set up is now complete.
To add Apple Watch, you have to set up Apple Pay on your iPhone first. Then follow these steps:
What do you need to get Apple Pay working?
To set up and use Apple Pay you’ll need:
You’ll also need a Metro Bank account. All Personal and Business Metro Bank debit and credit cards are eligible for Apple Pay.
If you want to use Apple Pay on your Apple Watch you’ll also need:
The Apple Watch can only be used for in-store payments.
Simply hold your compatible iPhone over the contactless reader, with your finger on Apple Touch ID. You can also use your passcode. Or you can double-click the ‘Home’ button when your iPhone is locked to access Wallet to quickly make your purchases.
Apple Watch wearers just need to double-click the side button and hold the display of Apple Watch up to the contactless reader. A gentle tap and beep confirm that your payment information was sent.
If you’re in the UK some merchants limit purchases to a maximum value of £30.
Effortless in-app purchases Within apps, look for the Buy with Apple Pay button or Apple Pay as a payment method. Use Apple Touch ID to complete the purchase. Payments are deducted straight from your account, so no need to enter your details again.
Here's an example of the Apple pay buttons to look out for:
Switch easily between different accounts You can set a default card for automatic payment in your Wallet app. If you want to pay with a different card for a particular purchase just choose the one you want to pay with in your wallet app.
When you view your card in Wallet, you’ll see the last transaction for each credit card or debit card. You might also see the last ten transactions for your cards. Just tap the card and tap the information button on screen. You’ll see the last 10 transactions made from your device.
Apple Pay activity is also included on your credit and debit card statements.
Apple Pay is safer than using a traditional credit or debit card. Every transaction on your iPhone or iPad requires you to authenticate with Touch ID or your passcode. Your Apple Watch is protected by the passcode that only you know, and your passcode is required every time you put on your Apple Watch.
Your card number and identity aren’t shared with the merchant, and your actual card numbers aren’t stored on your device or on Apple servers.
When you pay in stores, neither Apple nor your device sends your actual credit or debit card numbers to merchants. When you pay in apps, the merchant will only receive information like name, email address, billing and shipping addresses you authorise to share to fulfil your order.
Apple Pay can be used at any store displaying the Apple Pay or Contactless logo. You can make in-app purchases, use it on the web using Safari and pay for journeys with Transport for London (TfL). Some UK merchants may not be able to accept Apple Pay purchases over £30.
If you encounter any problems when adding cards to your device, Metro Bank and Apple Care are on hand to quickly resolve any issues. Call (0345) 450 3255 or just pop in to your nearest store and someone will help you.
The cashier can use the Device Account Number to find the purchase and process the return, just like they would with a traditional credit or debit card payment. To see the last four or five digits of the Device Account Number:
• For your iPhone or iPad, go to Wallet, tap the card, and tap the i information symbol..
• For your Apple Watch, open the Watch app on your iPhone, go to the My Watch tab, tap Wallet & Apple Pay, then tap your card.
If the cashier needs your card details to process the return, you can follow the same steps for making a payment:
1. On the device that you used to make the original payment, select the card that you want to be refunded. Remember to use the card registered within Apple Pay, not your physical card.
2. On your iPhone, hold the device near the reader and authorise the return with Touch ID or passcode. On your Apple Watch, double-click the side button and hold the display of your Apple Watch within an inch of the contactless reader.
Depending on the return and refund policies of the store, it may take up to several days for the return transaction to appear on your credit or debit card statement.
With Apple Pay, you authorise each purchase with Touch ID or your passcode. And every time you put on your Apple Watch, you need to enter your passcode to access it. These features help prevent other people from using Apple Pay on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch.
